No Problem!! Part 2

This is one of the houses that 2 teams worked on. They were to put the flooring in. After getting nearly done, the man decided he wanted it 3 inches lower. He expected us to pay for it and do it. It took him 2 days with no tools to realize we wouldn't do that, nor would we put up with his attitude before he came and
apologized while settling for the height of the floor.

This sweet little girl went to the preschool on the mountain. If you notice, she has 6 fingers on each hand. One of the leader's in our group claims she saw at least 4 people with that problem while on the mountain. The thing is, is that if this girl lived in the states, she would only need a simple surgery to remove the extra fingers. They were basically the top part of a finger from the last knuckle up, including a fingernail. This was only attached with a small flap of skin.

This is Palos( I think the spelling is right). He is 20 or so. He wants to come to the states really bad. For a Jamaican to come to the states they have to pay an insane amount just to walk through the doors of the embassy. Then they have to pass all kinds of tests. This kid worked 13 hour days with little water, never complaining, while working as hard as the skilled carpenter we had. The last time he tried to get his Visa, he was told he wasn't in good enough condition. Say what!? Not good enough condition? This kid could run circles around any laborer in this country!!

Here is a view of the local market. It would take at least 1 1/2 hour to get a taxi to the bottom of the mountain, then catch one to take us the 4 miles to town, run our errands and make the return trip. Can you imagine my frustration when the house we were painting needed more white paint, and some pink, but when we opened the can, the white was off-white? I had to go through the process before we could keep painting. Sheldon's (the guy we painted for) response when we open the can of paint was to stare and then say, "No problem!" I responded with, "yes Sheldon it is a problem." He laughed while saying my name in a smooth mellow tone, then he said again, "no problem!" Chalk it up for Sheldon helping me stay calm in that situation. He says "No problem" in such a calm way. It's not the stereotypical "Cool Runnings" way.
